Re-engineering the Battery for a Sustainable Future | Carlton Cummins | TEDxManchester

April 15, 2022

Countries and companies around the world have placed in their faith in electric vehicles as their main transport to a more sustainable future. However, the state of current battery technology is perhaps the weakest link on the bridge to that rosy future. Put bluntly by the BBC: “Electric cars: what will happen with all the dead batteries?” Entrepreneur & engineer Carlton Cummins will be discussing the these issues and some solutions being developed. While countries and companies all over the world are making an admirable commitment to electrical vehicles in the near future, the move to EV’s presents a new challenge around the manufacture, disposal and recycling of the billions of new batteries that will be needed to power this new EV future. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
